MACK. Just Light and Colour

S.U. Sakıp Sabancı Museum is hosting the leading artist of German modernism, Heinz Mack, with an exhibition showcasing the artist's long and prolific career with over a hundred works. "MACK. Just Light and Colour", encompassing the artist's formative earlier works that informed the revolutionary philosophy of the ZERO movement, brings together paintings, monumental sculptures and kinetic works produced throughout the artist's career.

Heinz Mack's first solo exhibition in Istanbul, where the civilisations of East and West have bequeathed a priceless heritage over thousands of years, is meeting art enthusiasts at the S.U. Sakıp Sabancı Museum galleries until July 17, 2016, with the invaluable support of Tahincioğlu.

Arts of the Book and Calligraphy Collection

Islamic arts and manuscripts dating from late 14th century to the 20th century are open to visit at SSM Arts of the Book and Calligraphy Collection, with cutting-edge exhibit platforms making it possible for art enthusiasts to examine manuscripts page by page.

Collection Meetings

Would you like to take a closer look at the collections on display at Atlı Köşk (The Mansion with the Horse) and be acquainted with the living quarters of the Sabancı family, guided by the expertise of Sakıp Sabancı Museum specialists and managers?

The third instalment of Collection Meetings takes place on March 31, 2016, Thursday at 15:00*.

SSM Children’s EducatioN

Throughout the "MACK. Just Light and Colour" exhibition, children partake in an artistic journey where they question the concepts of colour, light and surface, all the while designing their very own creative answers. As part of the children’s programs open to children born between the years of 2004 and 2011, children will experiment with texture, colour and reliefs, realizing Heinz Mack's inspiring artistic journeys within a museum environment.

Istanbul Recitals

Korean violin virtuoso Esther Yoo and Chinese pianist Zhang Zuo take the stage together in a duo recital at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s Seed on March 12, 2016, Saturday. Ticketholders to the event get to visit the museum free of charge until 19:30.

SSM Shop Heinz Mack's colours and forms find new life in design stationery items to accessories at the SSM Shop. To celebrate International Women’s Day, admission to SSM is free of charge on March 8, 2016 for women plus one guest - with a 15% discount on select items at SSM Shop. VIEW PRODUCTS ▸

Children's Education

SSM Children's Education Programs focusing on the Arts of the Book and Calligraphy Collection continue through the 2015-2016 school year, inviting children and youth from kindergarten level to high school.

As part of the workshops, children and youth learn the basic rules of arts of the book, inscribe pages using calligrapher’s tools and enter a miniature world through tablets.

Mothers with Prams

With the support of Turkcell, Families with Prams Day continues to offer families and babies their first museum experience together, complete with an unforgettable walk in the breathtaking garden, as well as a special tour of the galleries. The event series includes games, workshop activities and a tour of the exhibition, inviting all families to experience their first museum outing with their babies.
